Anastasia McAteer is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and Licensed Professional Counselor Intern supervised by Tracy Tanner, LPC-S, LMFT-S. She graduated with honors from St. Edward’s University with a dual Masters degree in Individual and Marriage and Family Counseling after completing a Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from The University of Texas at Austin. Anastasia provides services for clients from various backgrounds including, but not limited to, those who have experienced trauma, loss, anxiety, and depression. She has experience with at-risk- youth, adolescents, general life maintenance, individuals who are HIV+, LGBTQ, and individuals, couples, and families struggling with addiction.
Anastasia provides a safe, compassionate, and empathetic space and utilizes a client-centered, systemic, neuroscience informed, and integrative approach. She believes that no two individuals, couples, or families are alike and strives to provide holistic care to assist with the obstacles clients may be enduring. Anastasia believes everyone is part of a bigger system and that they can be affected by their family, culture, and relationships. This perspective gives her a deeper understanding of the client. Since Anastasia is also a registered therapeutic yoga teacher (RYT-500), she incorporates mindfulness techniques and, upon request, will utilize breathing techniques and body movement to help create a stronger mind/body connection. She has used integrative yoga therapy with individuals, groups, and families overcoming anxiety, substance abuse, and trauma.
