Austin Schrag, M.A., LMFT-Associate, LPC-Intern, NCC under the supervision of Marshall Lyles, M.A., LMFTS, LPCS, RPTS, EMDRIA Approved Consultant loves providing hope, support, knowledge and skills to help you reach your goals. Austin is an unflappable and judgment-free professional who specializes in working with couples, trauma, and family relationships. Austin knows that good counseling starts with listening. He understands that going to counseling is a weird and daunting experience so he strives to let you know what you can expect and then step back and let you discover and describe what you want to get out of counseling and what is important to you about what that journey looks like.
Different jobs require different tools and skills. That is why (after getting his MA in Professional Counseling with a focus in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas State University) Austin has pursued additional training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Method Couple’s Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sandtray Therapy, Play Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. No matter what approaches are used in your therapy several things don’t change:
You control the destination and how hard you push to get there. If those change, just let Austin know.
You are accepted and supported unconditionally.
In counseling, failure is a word with no meaning. If a road is blocked, it doesn’t mean you won’t get where you are going, it just means it might take a little longer than you thought.
Austin looks at everything with a systems mindset. This means it is never just about you but also about the relationships and settings that influence you.
Austin is an introvert and homebody who enjoys long walks with his wife and dog, reading, video and board games, pick-up sports, and the amazing food you can buy in Austin. Austin has moved 20 times and lived in 6 countries so far and loves learning about all the different ways that people build a good life. He would be honored to help you build yours.
