Shannon Nisley, M.A., LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Shannon’s therapeutic approach is client-centered, solution-focused, and culturally sensitive; having had the opportunity to grow up traveling and living around the world, she has seen firsthand the human need for healthy, sustainable, compassionate relationships. Working from a collaborative and integrative systemic lens, Shannon incorporates research-based treatment models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Mindfulness and Expressive-Based Practices based on individual client/group need. Shannon’s clients describe her as approachable, funny, direct, and creative; she has a passion for making therapy fun, often believing that laughter is the best medicine.
Shannon enjoys working with children, teens, and young adults, having a great deal of experience supporting those facing high degrees of conflict with their parents, teachers, partners or peers; those who are anxious or depressed; and those facing difficult life transitions. Through talk, humor, and creative expression, Shannon aims to provide a safe-space for self-exploration and growth for all. Additionally, using a combination of psycho-education, skill-building, and empathic attunement, Shannon provides parent coaching and family consultations to help empower parents to build healthier relationships with their kids.
A desire to bring awareness to the importance of human connection, especially during childhood and adolescence, led Shannon to pursue and complete a Master of Arts in Counseling. Graduating from St. Edward’s University in 2017, Shannon completed her graduate practicum experience with Communities In Schools at Blackshear Fine Arts Academy where she provided school-based mental health services for students in K-5th grade. She then moved on to become a school-based therapist at Manor High School where she provided mental health treatment and school-wide crisis management for both individuals and groups. She is excited and honored to now be a part of the GT Therapy Group family.
Outside of her work as a therapist, Shannon enjoys traveling, stand-up comedy shows, tacos, and kisses from her dog, Frank.
Shannon deeply respects your decision to seek support and looks forward to speaking with you.
