Therapy for Therapists and More with Shawn Kent

Many of you know Shawn Kent from his longtime work as a yoga teacher, instructor in trauma-informed yoga therapy, and his community healing work at Amala Foundation. Shawn has been in practice with us at GT Therapy since 2020, and has been a healer in our community for two decades. Shawn has recently expanded his practice to offer professional consultation and therapy for therapists that is rooted in his somatic, relational, bottom-up approach. If you’ve been looking for ways to reduce burnout, incorporate yoga practices, breathwork and body-based healing into your therapy practice or into your life, Shawn is a gifted teacher and therapist who brings his down-to-earth humor and deep knowledge into his work.

Shawn will also continue offering spots to teens and adults needing support with depression, anxiety, family dynamics, parenting teens, healing from trauma or substance misuse, navigating racial and male identity, and developing a mindfulness practice to support well-being. Shawn is particularly adept at working with teen boys, giftedness, parenting struggles, burnout prevention, and working with young people labeled oppositional, defiant, resistant and “not trying hard enough.” You'll likely find Shawn sitting cross-legged on the floor, and his booming laugh can fill a room with joy. He brings wonder and humor and deep presence to each person he meets.
